Hi! My name is Javier Belastegui Lazcano and I am a mathematical philosopher. In my research, I apply logic and geometry to study similarity, natural kind essentialism, classical and prototype concepts, metaphysical equivalence, reasons, and other philosophical topics.

Currently, I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP), at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. I am working with Hannes Leitgeb in his new project on reasons.

I am also an external member of the LAT research group of the Institute for Logic, Cognition, Language and Information (ILCLI), at the University of the Basque Country. I was a postdoctoral fellow there, funded by the Basque Government. While I was there, I worked with María de Ponte Azkarate and Kepa Korta. Before that, I spent two years as a visitor researcher at the MCMP. And before that, I wrote my PhD thesis under the supervision of Thomas Mormann.
